Description:

CS-50 is a widely used antibiotic in poultry farming for the prevention and treatment of bacterial infections, particularly those caused by E. coli and Salmonella. It is commonly administered through feed or water to control intestinal and gastrointestinal infections.

Colistin Sulphate works by disrupting the bacterial cell membrane, ultimately leading to bacterial death. However, the misuse and overuse of antibiotics have raised concerns about antibiotic resistance. To address this, CS-50 emphasizes judicious use, proper dosing, and monitoring to minimize resistance risks and ensure food safety.

CS-50 offers valuable synergy when used in combination with other antibiotics. It complements other classes of antibiotics, enhancing bacterial cell membrane disruption and increasing the efficacy of gram-negative bacteria treatments.

When combined with beta-lactam antibiotics or fluoroquinolones, Colistin demonstrates potent activity against respiratory pathogens and enteric infections caused by E. coli and Salmonella. Its use reduces dosage requirements, minimizes resistance development, and optimizes therapeutic outcomes.

Indications:

CS-50 is indicated for the treatment of:

• General bacterial infections caused by gram-negative bacteria.
• Gastrointestinal infections caused by E. coli, Klebsiella, Salmonella, and Pseudomonas.

Note: CS-50 has no cross-resistance with other antibiotics.

Dosage:

• 1 gm per 7–8 liters of drinking water for 5 to 7 days.
