Poli-50

Poli-50 is a freely and completely water soluble powder, therefor suitable for all types of drinking water system. Colistin is a cyclopeptide antibiotic and has a bactericidial action against Gram-negative bacteria. Colistin causes disorganization of bacterial cell membrane with leakage of intracellular materials and cell lysis. Susceptible bacteria are Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp, Shigella spp, Haemophilus spp, Pasteurella spp, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Vibrio spp. Colistin sulphate is hardly absorbed from intestine after oral administration (less than 1% of the administered dose) and therefor remain active only in the gastrointestinal tract.
Indications:
Poli-50 is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections in poultry, calves and lambs caused by bacteria susceptible to colistin, particularly Colibacillosis and Salmonellosis.
Dosage and Administration:
For oral administration via drinking water.
Poultry: 1 gm per 10 liters of drinking water for 5 days or 1 gm/5kg of feed. Medicated water should be used within 24 hours.
Calves & lambs: 1gm of poli-50 per 80 kg body weight twice daily for 5-7 days.
